Samsung R700 touchscreen phone caught at the FCC

In an effort that involves launching as many phones as humanly possibly, Samsung is preparing to unveil a new member of its touchscreen family of device – R700. The device has been caught while playing in FCC’s labs and from there we know one thing – we don’t want it. The reason is simple – it’s a low-end handset which won’t excite anyone, except those on a budget who “must” have a touchscreen phone to look cool or… whatever.

Anyway, it is likely the R700 will end up in a small carrier’s offering with U.S. Cellular being the prime candidate. It’s a CDMA-based device with 3G data (EV-DO), but the lack of AWS suggest MetroPCS and T-Mobile are out of picture.

Rest of the specs include some camera (with dedicated key), headset jack and most likely Bluetooth connectivity support, media player, web browser and so on. All said, we may or may not talk again about the R700 when it’s officially announced. You won’t miss a thing even if we don’t…
