Samsung is expanding its One UI 9.0 testing beyond the latest Galaxy S26 series. The company has started developing the Android 17-based software update for the Galaxy S25 lineup, according to firmware files spotted on Samsung’s over-the-air update servers.

This development comes just one month after Samsung opened the One UI 9.0 beta program for Galaxy S26 users. The new software version brings a redesigned interface along with additional features for Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

The discovery matters for Galaxy S25 owners who have been waiting to see if their devices would receive the latest Android version. Samsung typically supports its flagship phones with major OS updates for several years, but the timeline can vary between different Galaxy series releases.

Samsung’s approach to rolling out One UI 9.0 follows the company’s usual pattern of starting with newest devices before expanding to older models. The Galaxy S26 series launched with beta access to the new software, while S25 users are now seeing early development activity.

The presence of One UI 9.0 firmware files on Samsung’s servers indicates active development work is underway. However, this doesn’t guarantee an immediate release timeline for Galaxy S25 users. Internal testing typically precedes any public beta programs by several weeks or months.

Android 17 brings several under-the-hood improvements along with Samsung’s custom interface changes in One UI 9.0. The update represents another step in Samsung’s commitment to keeping older flagship devices current with the latest Android features and security updates.

Galaxy S25 owners should expect more concrete information about One UI 9.0 availability as Samsung completes its internal testing phases. The company will likely announce beta program details and rollout schedules once the software reaches sufficient stability for broader testing.
