Facebook for Android Updated with Chat and Push Notifications

Android-Facebook-chat

Some of you Android users out there may have noticed that the Facebook application has been updated in the Market. What new features does it include? Well, push notifications for when you get a new wall post or direct messsage, and real-time chat with your friends who are online. Chat is a huge addition, and long-awaited by many users; now that both iPhone and Android have official Facebook chat support, one can only hope that BlackBerry isn’t far behind.  The last significant update to this particular client was the introduction of the Places check-in service which leaves me wondering what else there is to add to the app. Anything you’re really hurting for?

If you haven’t already gotten the notification, you can download the updated Facebook for Android here.

Anyone know contact info for a Facebook for Android developer? There is a serious bug that has existed for months with Event start/end times – they show up 3 hours advanced in the app for people in EST. Here is my official bug report which I’ve yet to hear back from them on:

There is a serious bug with event times in the official Facebook for Android app. If I create an event for say, 6:30pm-11:30pm on the Facebook website from my PC, the Facebook for Android app, in the events menu, accessible from the home menu, will show it as being 9:30pm-1:30am. It’s always delayed 3 hours for both the start and end time. I don’t see any settings for time zone in the app, etc, or a way to change this offset. I am assuming it is a time zone issue, given that I’m in NY and am EST, and Facebook AFAIK is hosted out of CA and is PST, which would explain the exact 3 hour difference.
I am running the current latest build from the market (1.5.0), and have seen this since at least 1.4.0 when I first noticed it. I have reproduced this with multiple events, both ones I’ve created and ones created by others. I also reproduced this on my Verizon Fascinate on Android 2.1, and my friend’s AT&T Captivate on Android 2.2, and another friend’s Verizon Droid X on Android 2.2, all with the same result, so I definitely think this is a bug and it’s not device, carrier, or Android version specific.
Let me know if you need any further info or testing done! You can e-mail me at facebook_dev@protonus.ws

Also, the other two things the Android app needs:
1.) The ability to “Like” comments made on photos, status updates, etc, like you can from the website.
2.) The ability to remove posts, people, or apps, from your news feed, again like you can from the website.
