It was almost a year ago when we talked about the phenomenal success of the Samsung Star. At the point, the Korean giant announced it has managed to move 10 million Star units. Today that number is 30 million!

As you may know, the Star is a low-to-mid range all-touchscreen device that was launched in May 2009. The company has ever since unveiled a number of different versions of the device, all of which helped cross the 30 million milestone.

In Europe, Samsung sold 15 million Star devices, in Latin America – 5 million, Russia – 3 million, and in China – 1 million units. The device has also topped bestseller phone lists in Germany and Austria.

The Star is the second Samsung phone to sell 30 million units, with the Samsung E250 previously hitting this milestone.

Commenting on the news, YH Lee, senior VP of Marketing for the Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, said: “We are very pleased with the phenomenal success of the Samsung Star. Samsung is aiming to take the lead in the global full touch-screen mobile and dominate the market with our diverse product line up and customized marketing approach.”
