Arconas and Powermat are teaming-up to bring wireless charging capability to airports worldwide. The two companies are a match made in heaven – Arconas is a leader in providing public seating in more than 130 airports around the globe, while Powermat is a pioneer in the wireless power.

Here’s a snippet from the press release:

The incorporation of wireless charging into airport seating and lounge areas is an unprecedented step toward bringing wireless energy to markets that are both untapped and ripe for the convenience and ease of wireless power integration.

Powermat continues saying its vision is to create a wireless world where access to wire-free power is as pervasive as Wi-Fi.

Finally, we have words of Powermat CEO Ran Poliakin – he said: “Most business travelers will tell you that the airport is among the worst places to lose power on your smartphone because you’re basically stranded – sometimes literally – with nothing else to do. In addition, searching for an outlet in an airport is worse than trying to find a needle in a haystack in terms of the level of frustration and difficulty.”
