Myriad Updates enables social networking in emerging markets

Myriad is bringing social networking services to emerging markets with its new solution called Myriad Updates. The idea is to allow billions of people without mobile data access to cyber schmooze while on the go, using nothing but SMS.

If you remember, we’ve already covered India-based GupShup which already offers a similar service and is being used by millions of people. Myriad obviously thinks there’s still room on the market and is putting its expertise and money behind it. However, instead of lunching its own-branded service, their solution is tailored towards carriers, which in turn may want to offer such a service to their customers.

Myriad Updates relies on the company’s Xumii platform that powers services for Telefónica and other major operators. The Xumii platform aggregates the most popular social networks into one single, operator-branded environment that enables subscribers to stay connected to popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace without a data subscription and no need to download or install an application… And you can get additional information on Myriad Updates from the company’s website.
