Audio technology experts from Audyssey unveiled a new iPhone dock called Audyssey South of Market. The somewhat odd name comes from the South of Market area of San Francisco, a neighborhood which is known for its eclectic mix of restaurants, nightclubs, start-ups and artist lofts. Apparently, Audyssey folks dig that place and have found it to be a great source of inspiration for the design of their new audio dock.
Anyway, the device is said to represent a “breakthrough in the design of audio products.” At just 13 cm wide and 23 cm deep, it may be small in size but delivers amazing sound nonetheless, featuring five of Audyssey’s proprietary technologies: Audyssey Dynamic Voice, Audyssey EQ, Audyssey Dynamic EQ, Audyssey BassXT and Audyssey Dynamic Volume.
Aside from the speaker and charging station, the Audyssey South of Market also comes with dual-microphones for making phone calls and stereo Bluetooth support allowing users to connect pretty much any phone to the unit and stream their music sans any wires.
Price wise, we’re talking about a premium and thus expensive accessory. Audyssey asks 399 EUR for the South of Market Audio Dock, which means 95% of us won’t get to have it… unfortunately. 🙁
