You may think Samsung should close its own mobile app store, but honestly – there’s no reason for doing so with the rising number of Bada smartphone owners. To be fair, they [Bada smartphone owners] are just a fraction of Android or iPhone users, but they represent a respectable market nevertheless. Moreover, Samsung Apps is not just about Bada apps — it also rocks apps for other platforms Korean giant is supporting, excluding Windows Phone 7.
Anyway, Samsung announced that it has crossed the 100 million downloads mark on Samsung Apps, less than a year after the store has opened its “virtual doors.” If you remember, the first device to support mobile content from Samsung Apps was the Wave (S8500), which at the same time was the first phone to rely on the Bada platform.
At the moment, Samsung Apps has 13,000 applications and is available in over 120 countries, with France, Germany and Spain accounting for about 40% of the total downloads.
