Microsoft’s MIX conference is just a week away and rumors suggest that we’ll be seeing a new version of Silverlight which will make it possible to play Windows Phone 7 games on your Xbox 360.
WinRumos has a source which is saying that Silverlight will definitely be coming to the Xbox 360 at the MIX conference and this will open the door for a stronger, cross-platform gaming.
Until now, we’ve thought of cross-platform gaming as Xbox games coming to Windows Phone 7, as it is the only mobile operating system which can sync into Xbox with things like avatar control. The move to Silverlight on the home console could be very appealing for developers too, as this would open up a new audience for game makers.
We had a lot of hope for Windows Phone 7 gaming when it launched but it hasn’t quite seemed to deliver on the promises we’ve heard from Microsoft. We want things like strong cross-platform gaming, gaming that can be easily resumed no matter what device you’re using and more. This could be the first step toward that future.
