Cellular South, LightSquared hook up for 4G LTE

Cellular South has hooked up with LightSquared for a data roaming deal and the move will give users of the regional carrier access to the 4G LTE service in the future.

If you’re not familiar with LightSquared, it uses satellite spectrum to offer 4G LTE wholesale services to carriers. This ambitious network could be a true competitor to the likes of Verizon and AT&T.

“LightSquared’s wholesale-only, integrated 4G-LTE wireless broadband and satellite network, makes them a valuable partner because it enables us to provide our customers, including those in rural locations, with nationwide access to the most advanced technology and reliable coverage available,” said Hu Meena, president and CEO of Cellular South, in a prepared statement.
