FCC clears Sharp’s Galapagos 7-inch Android tablet

Sharp is looking to enter the overhyped tablet market with its own product. The rumor says it that the Japanese company will launch not one but few tablets, all of which will rely on the Android platform.

Now we have FCC to confirm there is some merit in these stories, with a 7-inch tablet called “Galapagos” getting the Commission’s seal of approval. Yep this means the device is ready to be introduced on the U.S. soil, though it doesn’t mean that will happen soon. Quite the contrary, we’ve been seeing quite a few mobile products that were never introduced in the U.S. and then some which were not launched anywhere in the world. We’re hoping that won’t be the case here and that soon enough we’ll see the first Sharp Galapagos being officially announced. Then, if we’re even luckier, additional models will follow, offering “something for everyone.”

We’ll be definitely following where this story goes and let you know as soon as we hear something new. Stay tuned in the meantime, k?
