Apple fall event September 7, iPhone 5 to be announced?

We’ve been waiting for what seems like ages for the iPhone 5, and it just might be announced during Apple’s next live event. There is word that the event will take place September 7, roughly around the same time that the iTunes music event last year. Since we’ve already heard all we need to know about iOS 5, there is a good chance that this will be an iOS hardware event, which means the iPod touch and the highly anticipated iPhone 5.

If the iPhone 5, along with final details of iCloud and iOS 5, is to be announced at the September 7 event, there is a chance that the smartphone won’t hit the market until October. There is also word that a new iPad will be announced, but it seems pretty unlikely given its usual cycle.

Are you pretty excited for the iPhone 5? How many of you have been waiting impatiently for this thing to hit the market already?
