BuzzMob launches location-based social networking app for iPhone

BuzzMob is the latest company to join the location-based social networking space. Their mobile app, at the moment available only for iPhone, allows users to connect with the people around them while experiencing the same social activity like concerts and sporting events. Moreover, BuzzMob also says their service is well suited for college campuses and shopping centers.

Here’s how it works:

  • As a user you either join an existing Ring or create a new one around some location.
  • The “Buzz,” which is a live feed of all people in the Ring, is started and from there all users can see what’s going on.
  • Now you can contact other members of the Ring and/or share Photos with them.
  • Presuming you’re not in a closed area like a shopping center (so that GPS can work), you can also see what’s happening on a map.
  • You can also get information from the location itself, which feels like advertising to us.

Sounds cool though with services like this one, the more people use it, the more useful it becomes. We’ll see whether BuzzMob has what it takes to compete in this pretty crowded market…
