Almost missed this… Google Nexus S is getting the Android 2.3.6 update as we speak. As far as we’ve heard, this software release will fix the annoying voice search bug that almost randomly activates the capability while you’re in other apps. However, some users reported it [the new update] didn’t work for them. What’s more, this firmware kills Wi-Fi and USB tethering.
In other words, if you don’t have a problem with random voice search activations (cause not all users had this problem), make sure to SKIP this update. I’m sure Google is listening to the community and will soon release another firmware version, which you DO want to grab (presuming that one doesn’t kill tethering).
Of course, since this is the over-the-air update you may haven’t seen it at all. Lucky you, cause you would certainly be tempted to “push the button.” We’ll be following the Nexus S saga and let you know when the “real deal” is out. Stay tuned…
