Sony Ericsson Android 2.3.4 updates rolling out globally

Sony Ericsson is now pushing the Android 2.3.4 update for most of its Xperia phones sold all around the world. The new software is released for the following Sony Ericsson devices: Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia ray, Xperia active, Xperia neo V, Xperia arc S and the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman.

The update will be available for all unlocked phones and most operator variants but there will be local deviations. Moreover, some deviations on feature upgrade will depend on phone model. For instance, Google Talk video chat will only be available for phones with front facing camera, while Xperia PLAY will not get 3D panorama sweep.

Other notable feature upgrades include:

  • Updated Facebook inside Xperia functionality for enhanced like, share and discover abilities.
  • 16x video zoom
  • Ability to connect USB peripherals (mouse, keyboard or game controller) to Sony Ericsson LiveDock multimedia station, and to connect the smartphone to a TV via HDMI.
  • Gesture input
  • WiFi DLNA
  • Screen capture

Now you should check for software updates (Settings -> About phone) and take it from there…
