I really don’t understand why it took so long for mobile game publishers and DC Comics to make a Superman game for iOS-based devices, but the good news is that the first such title is now in the AppStore, brought to you by Chillingo.

The official pitch goes like this:

Become Superman to save the city of metropolis in an all-new adventure for iPhone and iPad. As the man of Steel, use your incredible powers to protect the people of Earth in this stylish, arcade game featuring original artwork, panels and soundtrack.

Yep, the game is available in two flavors, one for the iPhone and iPod Touch, and the other one for iPad that (obviously) takes advantage of the additional screen estate.

The Superman game trailer looks promising and I hope we won’t have to wait for too long to see Chillingo launching it in the Android Market, too. And now the mentioned trailer. Enjoy!
