OtterBox launched new cases for two HTC smartphones – Rezound and Rhyme. The tougher Defender Series case is available only for the Rezound, while Commuter Series cases are available for both phones. Not sure why there’s no Defender case for the Rhyme, though.

Anyway, the Defender Series cases completely cover the phone with three layers of rugged protection, including screen protector, polycarbonate shell and rugged silicone layer. The Commuter Series, on the other hand, is made for folks looking for a bit of style, while at the same time providing solid phone protection with multi-layer combination of a self-adhering screen film, silicone and polycarbonate.

Of course, both solutions allow devices to be fully functional – screen sensitivity is not lost, port accessibility is pristine and camera clearance remains intact…

Commuter Series cases are available for $34.95, and the Defender Series case for HTC Rezound could be yours for $49.95.
