Australian Supreme Court overturns Samsung Galaxy Tab ban

The Australian Supreme Court voted unanimously to overturn Apple’s injunction on the Samsung Galaxy Tab. The injunction will remain in effect until the end of the week, and Apple will have the chance to appeal this decision before the injunction is lifted. If Apple’s appeal fails, then Samsung can begin selling the Galaxy Tab in Australia starting Friday at 4 pm.

This decision is good news for Samsung, which has been waiting for months to launch its Galaxy Tab in Australia. Apple filed its patent infringement lawsuit and asked for an injunction in August of this year. Samsung agreed to delay the launch of their tablet while Justice Annabelle Bennett made her decision on the injunction request. In October, Justice Bennet sided with Apple and Samsung was forced to postpone any launch plans. The Korean company has been working hard to get this ban overturned, so it can release its tablet during the lucrative holiday shopping season.
