New Swype Beta adds voice input, compliments of Nuance's Dragon Dictation

You know about Swype? You probably love using the popular virtual keyboard – I know I do. But you know what – even though it works like a charm, sometimes I don’t want to type anything on the phone. I would rather say it and let the technology convert my voice into text. Guess what – that’s now possible with Swype and we have Nuance’s acquisition of the company to thank for the capability.

Now when you need to send some SMS (or type anything else for that matter using Swype), you can use your voice just as well. Simply hit the small “fire” button at the bottom left corner of the Swype keyboard and say what you want to type. Nuance’s award-winning Dragon Dictation engine will do the rest on your behalf.

Still sceptical? Check out a short demo video explaining the new feature. Love it! 😉
