Amazon announced its quarterly at the end of the trading day on Tuesday.  Though it missed its revenue expectations, the electronics retailer had a banner quarter for Kindle devices. Amazon didn’t release exact sales figures but Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said in a statement,

“We are grateful to the millions of customers who purchased the Kindle Fire and Kindle e-reader devices this holiday season, making Kindle our bestselling product across both the U.S. and Europe”

The statement also said that Amazon’s Kindle sales, which include the Android-powered Kindle Fire, increased 177 percent year over year. The Fire was also the most-gifted and most wished for product across all Amazon since it released the device in November 2011.
