Well, it looks like Meizu’s finally taking the wraps off its quad-core variant dubbed the MX Quad-core. This new device will sport a Cortex-A9-based, 32nm HKMG (High-K Metal Gate) quad-core Samsung Exynos chip. What’s even more impressive is the company claims this device will save up to 20 percent of CPU power consumption compared to its predecessor, as this could be due to the battery being bumped up from 1,600mAh to 1,700mAh.
When it comes to aesthetics, users will get the option to swap between five different colored covers. As for software, consumers can expect a customized version of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) called Flyme, which recently surpassed 100 million downloads.
The good news about this phone is it has a 4-inch 960 x 640 ASV display and a eight-megapixel BSI camera, the bad news is the handset has no support for microSD expansion. The MX Quad-core will range in different price points according to its internal memory (like the iPhone). Prices will go from ¥2,999 (US$ 480) in China and HK$ 3,099 (US$ 400) in Hong Kong, while a 64GB version will be priced at ¥3,999 (US$ 635) and HK$ 4,099 (US$ 530), respectively.
Meizu claims the MX Quad-core is the world’s first smartphone to utilize the quad-core Exynos chip, I wonder if the Galaxy S III will carry the same chip?
