Mobile social gaming industry keeps consolidating, with GREE announcing acquisition of Funzio, the company behind such popular titles as Crime City, Modern War and Kingdom Age, which combined boast more than 20 million downloads.
Under the deal, Funzio’s titles will join the roster of cutting-edge content planned for GREE’s global platform, while its officers and founders will join GREE’s San Francisco development studio: Ken Chiu (CEO) and Anil Dharni (COO) will join GREE International as Senior Vice Presidents; Ram Gudavalli (CTO) and Andy Keidel (VP, Engineering) will join as Vice Presidents.
GREE’s goal is to attain one billion worldwide users while introducing new genre expertise and titles to the anticipated GREE social mobile gaming platform, scheduled for release in the second quarter of the year.
