Two pretty sweet deals are taking place right now for the HTC One S Android handset. The device has dropped in price significantly at both Best Buy and T-Mobile, selling for $99.99 and $49.99 respectively with a two-year contract.
Note that the sale at T-Mobile will require you to pay $99.99 up front for the phone and then get your $50 back via mail-in rebate. If you’re like me and absolutely despise rebates, Best Buy is the better option. The sale price of the One S at T-Mobile is part of an even bigger Father’s Day sale going on in which many of the Android smartphones are discounted or made completely free as long as you glue yourself to the network for two years.
Since both of the deals are available exclusively online, it might be a little too late at this point to order it and have the phone ship on time for Dad’s big day this Sunday. It’s still something worth taking advantage of though. We reviewed the HTC One S at the beginning of April and gave it a terrific rating so for this low of a price, there’s some definite value here.
If you’re really hard pressed to order a phone for Dad this year and you’re a last-minute shopper, I’ll be happy to share one of my small tips to avoid looking like a total jackass when Father’s Day comes around and you don’t have a gift to give. If you want to buy something that you know won’t ship to your house in time, find a quality photo of the product online, print it out and stick it in a box with a note that reads something along the lines of “Your gift is on the way!” It’s better than nothing.
That said, head over to either Best Buy or T-Mobile to get your discounted HTC One S.
If you’re one who tends to wait until the day of to get a gift, T-Mobile will be offering the HTC One S for free on contract, along with a wide selection of other devices on June 15th and 16th. Of course, expect to pay the subsidized price of the device and wait for the rebate to come in. More details can be found here.
