With the growing number of retro games hitting the AppStore, Portland-based Cascadia Games decided to improve the experience for old-school gamers. Their project is called GameDock and it currently tries to raise $50,000 at Kickstarter. It basically converts an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad into a full-fledging game console.

On the back side, it has an HDMI out port, Apple’s proprietary 30-pin connector in the middle, 2 USB ports for connecting Gamepads and a power button on the front. It’s a simple machine, yet the one that will significantly improve your gaming experience.

The system is optimized to work with iCade, though I guess it will work with some other games just as well. Pledging $100 will get you the GameDock, while $50 more will add one retro USB controller and HDMI adapter to the mix. Additionally, you’ll have to add $20 for shipping outside of the United States.

Pretty cool. Here’s the video two guys behind Cascadia Games posted at Kickstarter
