Verizon Galaxy Nexus falls to $100 on new contract

Verizon is now offering its LTE version of the Galaxy Nexus for the crazy bargain basement price of $99.99 (or 100 bucks). Big Red’s Samsung Galaxy Nexus debuted in December, so it’s not at all a dinosaur in today’s smartphone market.

I know, I know. By no means is this handset comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S III (spec-wise), but the fact that you’ll more than likely be first in line for the latest and greatest software from Google’s Android, makes it worthwhile. Anyone who’s familiar with Android knows, the software angle is a big deal, and having a phone (on the cheap) that will undoubtedly support future updates is awesome.

In the end, this price drop might signify that Verizon will soon discontinue the device, but the deal is still worth the upgrade. If contracts aren’t your thing, don’t forget you can always snag the unlocked (and unsubsidized) GSM Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) version directly from Google for the comfy price of $349.
