Better pencil off the week of September 12th on your calendar and mark it tentatively as “new iPhone week.” John Paczkowski of AllThingsD said in a report that Apple will hold an event the week of September 12th. Though the topic for the event is not mentioned by their sources, Paczkowski believes Apple will use it to announce the new iPhone. This report backs up an earlier report from iMore that suggested Apple will introduce the handset on September 12th and start selling it on the 21st. iMore also says Apple will use this event to unveil the 7-inch iPad.
To bolster his claims, John Paczkowski points to an increase in the company’s prepayments for components, a dollar amount that rose $1.15 billion in the June quarter. As pointed out by Wells Fargo Securities analyst Maynard Um in a recent note to investors, this ramp up suggests Apple is preparing to launch at least one major product in the upcoming months.
