Leaked images from the Verge add more fuel to the firestorm of rumors that suggest Amazon is announcing a new Kindle Fire tablet at its September 6th press event. The images appear to be press shots of  the second generation Kindle Fire and show a 7-inch tablet with a  toned-down Kindle UI.

As shown in the images on The Verge’s website, the device has a front-facing camera for video calling apps like Skype and a notch that could be a microphone. Internal hardware details are not known, but the device will have to include a quad-core processor and a high-resolution display if it’s going to be competitive with Google’s Nexus 7.
