XDA member and perennial thorn in HTC’s side Football4PDA have released an alleged image of the HTC Accord which suggests the device will launch as the HTC 8X. According to one of the leaked images, touches of HTC’s Sense UI will make its way to the 8X, with HTC’s standard clock and weather widget installed front and center on the device’s homescreen. Minimal, to be sure, and we don’t expect HTC to skin the Windows Phone 8 experience too much since Microsoft maintains some control over the look and feel of its Windows Phone platform; even the clock and weather widget was designed with tiles in mind.
When it comes to device specifications, some will be disappointed that the 8X will supposedly not have the same 1.5GHz MSM8960 processor used in the Galaxy S III, opting instead for a 1.2GHz dual-core variant like that found in HTC’s DROID Incredible 4G LTE. The device would also feature 16GB of storage, an 8 megapixel camera, a wide-angle 1080p recording front facing camera, NFC, and integrated Beats Audio technology.
We expect HTC will officially take the wrappings off the Accord/8X at the company’s press event on September 19th. Stay tuned.
