Samsung is working on a 13-megapixel camera sensor for mobile devices. Identified as S5K3L2, the sensor will support a maximum resolution of 4208×3120 pixels and back-side illumination for improved photo taking under low light pictures.

The Korean company already has a 12-megapixel sensor (marked as S5K3L1), which is now under mass production.

In case you wonder, we’ve no information when these sensors will be available in Samsung smartphones. Hopefully we’ll have some answers by the end of the year, or during next year’s CES in Las Vegas.
