Twitter for iOS and Twitter for Android have received a rather significant update today, coinciding with CEO Dick Costolo’s appearance on the Today Show where Costolo announced the service’s increased focus on photos and media. Twitter for iPad now allows users to click to expand tweets which will show large photos, videos, and web page previews right in your timeline. From there, you can make any of those experiences full-screen with another tap.
Keeping with the focus on multimedia content, Twitter has announced it has revamped profiles and will now allow users to upload large header photos to their profile, which several Twitterers have already likened to the oft-beguiled cover photos on competing service Facebook. Twitter for iOS and Android have been updated today with the new profiles, and the web interface has gotten an overhaul as well.
You can download the new Twitter for iPad/iPhone on the App Store, or pick up the Android version in Google Play.
