Samsung has announced this morning that Jelly Bean, the latest version of Android complete with Project Butter and Google Now, will be coming to the flagship Galaxy S III “in the coming months.” The update will come via Kies and an OTA update once it’s made available, and availability will vary by region likely due to the carrier testing the updates are subject to. The “in coming months” statement leaves much to be desired, as many had hoped that the best Android device on the market today would receive Jelly Bean in a timely fashion.
Now, it looks as though Galaxy S III owners pining over the latest Android OS released in July 2012 may have to wait until late 2012 or even early 2013 to get their hands on the update. If previous experience in indicative, it may be closer to the latter, at least for the CDMA carriers.
