Sprint isn’t wasting any time securing its place in the US wireless market. Bolstered by its pending merger with SoftBank, the carrier announced that it will acquire a majority stake in struggling wireless provider Clearwire. According to a report in Reuters, Sprint bought out Clearwire shareholder Eagle River Holdings and now owns a 50.8 percent stake in the company. Now that Sprint has a controlling interest in Clearwire, it will have full access to the company’s valuable spectrum assets.
