Bad news for those of you with the LG Optimus 7 – the Korean company won’t release a Windows Phone 7.8 update for your smartphone, despite the fact that Microsoft promised to push updates without carrier interventions. It looks like handset makers are still included in the process and LG decided cramming this version to its existing smartphone is not worth the effort.

The information comes from the Polish website WP7.com.pl, which shows a letter from one of its readers who asked about the update. To make things worse, we’re not sure whether other LG Windows Phones (like Quantum) will also be abandoned. We do hope that folks leading the smartphone division at LG will do their best to properly serve its customers. We’ll let you know if we hear something new on this. Stay tuned…
