As if we needed anymore confirmation as to what the next version of the Android operating system would be called, the drawing you see above pretty much spells it out to the world, right? Not so fast.
Manu Cornet, a Google employee that works on the Gmail team, drew up this little doodle “just for fun”. There’s no solid indication or confirmation behind the drawing, but it seems more than apparent that the next version of Android will indeed be called Key Lime Pie. The name has been tossed around several times, so the real shocker would be Google naming the next version of its OS something other than Key Lime Pie.
The introduction of the next version of the OS will likely be announced during the 2013 Google I/O conference, which usually takes place early to mid-year. With Android 4.1 and 4.2 being relatively small updates, Key Lime Pie may indeed prove to be a rather dramatic update to the OS — maybe not as dramatic as the transition from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich, but Google probably has quite a few nice features to show to the world with the next version of Android.
