The times, they are a’changin’; the phones, they are a’growin’. Or so it goes with the smartphone/tablet hybrid market.
Initially, we thought Samsung’s 5.5″ Galaxy Note II was huge, though that size was easily eclipsed by the rumored 6.1″ Huawei Ascend and a 6″ device from Sony. A rumor out of the Korean Times this morning suggests that Samsung itself may be embracing a supersized display for the Galaxy Note III, which the company is prepping for a 2013 launch. According to the report, the Note III will come with a 6.3″ OLED display, giving users significantly higher screen real estate compared to the Note II, and that it’ll likely come with a 1080p resolution and (hopefully) a larger battery to provide enough juice to power the screen.
Time will tell whether such a phone would actually become a reality, though one trend is absolutely clear. The days of holding your phone with one hand is over, should Android and Windows Phone manufacturers have anything to say about it.
