Not sure why this took so long, but as they say it – better late than never. U.S. Cellular and Samsung have finally started rolling out Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy S II. To make things worse, it’s not an over-the-air affair, and you’ll rather have to connect your phone to a computer to benefit from all the bells and whistles Android 4.0 brings to the table. You can get all the details how to do that from here.

Speaking of which [bells and whistles], Ice Cream Sandwich packs a number of enhancements and new features, including Face Unlock, Android Beam for NFC-based sharing, improved web browsing, redesigned Gallery app with photo editor, and so on and on. In addition, there are also “additional apps” included in this firmware like Google Play Movies and Slacker Radio.

Hopefully, U.S. Cellular customers won’t have to wait this long for the Jelly Bean update…
