The Archos GamePad is already available in Europe but if you live in the US, the only way to get it from some importer. If you don’t like how that sounds and would rather wait for Archos to brings its baby to the States, you’ll be glad to know that this will happen at some point in February with Archos asking $169 for its tablet sans any strings attached.

We still don’t have the exact date, but I assume we won’t have to wait forever to get that information as well.

If you recall, the GamePad is a 7-inch Android tablet with dedicated game control keys placed around the screen. It comes pre-loaded with a button-mapping tool to make pretty much any game compatible with the hardware buttons. In addition, around 1,000 well-known titles should work out of box.

Specs wise, Archos’ tablet has a 7-inch 1024×600 touchscreen, a dual-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A9 processor, 1GB of RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity support, front-facing camera, 8 GB of built-in storage expandable via microSD cards, while Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is running the show.

I kinda like this GamePad. It’s like a perfect tablet for a tween.
