LG’s Optimus 4XHD was pretty amazing smartphone at the time it was announced. However, it was released a bit too late and in the meantime, the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S III got all the attention of the media (and customers). One of the phone’s aspects that wasn’t popular among the hacking community was its tightly-locked bootloader that didn’t allow for third-party “modifications.” That’s no longer the case now that the Jelly Bean firmware is leaked, enabling easier unlocking. Needless to say, the XDA-Developer forum members reacted and came up with a working ClockworkMod recovery.

Bear in mind that cramming a new ROM on your 4XHD won’t be as easy as doing it on other phones so if you want to take this route – make sure to go through instructions with an extra care, cause your phone could end-up bricked. As usual, you can’t hold IntoMobile responsible in case something goes wrong. We’re just the messenger…

Optimus 4XHD is a decent phone and one you should be able to buy for next to nothing on sites like eBay…
