LinkedIn acquires Pulse News reader

Almost missed this… but since it’s fairly important, we’re going with it even if we’re a few days late.

Business social network LinkedIn acquired Pulse, the company behind the popular Pulse News reader which is available for iOS and Android devices.

Pulse was started in 2010 as a class project at Stanford’s d.school to create the best-possible mobile news reader. Little they know that at one point this side project will emerge as a major app/service, used by some 30 million users all around the world.

The application will keep its focus, though we expect it to get deeper integration with LinkedIn. At the same time, we could get a new news reading section in LinkedIn’s mobile app, which (let’s face it) could use some polishing.

To celebrate the news, Pulse added a brand new LinkedIn Influencer feed, filling it with posts by luminaries like Richard Branson, Jack Welch, and more. It remains a free app and you can get it from the two links below…
