ZTE GEEK is the upcoming 5-inch Android smartphone with Intel's Clover Trail+ processor

During the recent Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in Beijing, China – ZTE unveiled a new smartphone powered by Intel’s newest 32nm Z2580 mobile Atom chipset. The ZTE GEEK comes with a Clover Trail+ processor clocked at 2GHz, providing smooth graphics and animations. In addition, it also packs a 5-inch 720p HD (720×1280 pixels) screen, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera, 1-megapixel front-facing one, 8GB of built-in storage, 2,300mAh battery and… uncertain release date. As I’m writing this, we’re not sure whether it will be a China-only device or it may be released in the West, as well.

It’s worth adding that this isn’t the first ZTE mobile device that uses Intel’s processor – there are also the Grand X IN and V98 tablet, both of which are still not widely available. Hopefully, with Intel’s increased efforts in the mobile market, we’ll soon getting more options to choose from, pushing the prices south to the benefits of consumers…
