Verizon's Droid Xyboards will get Jelly Bean update

In an interesting twist of events Motorola and Verizon decided to bring the Jelly Bean update to the carrier-specific versions of the Motorola Xoom 2 (and Xoom 2 Media Edition) while leaving Wi-Fi only models stuck to Ice Cream Sandwich. Yeah, it sounds weird but apparently that’s going to happen as you can see for yourself from Moto’s upgrade page for the Verizon Xyboard twins.

Unfortunately the exact launch date for the Xyboard 8.2 and Xyboard 10.1 updates is still a mystery and we’ll rather have to wait a little longer to get the official information from Verizon or Motorola. Hopefully this won’t take forever, and (again) hopefully Wi-Fi-only models will get their servings of Jelly Beans shortly afterwards.

So if you still own one of these Moto tablets, now is not the time to sell them. Wait until they get Android 4.1 and only then list them on eBay – you should be able to get a small premium at that time.
