Lenovo to launch a Windows Phone 8 device with a 5-inch full HD screen and quad-core processor?

Looks like Lenovo is looking to go beyond Android by making a pact with Microsoft. The rumor is that the Chinese company may be looking to enter the Windows Phone 8 game by launching a powerful device that not only sports a 5-inh full HD screen, but also a quad-core processor.

The information comes from CNbeta, and we’re still not sure what to make of it. On one hand, it makes perfect sense for Lenovo to diversify its bets and try its chances with new platforms where there’s more room for competing against an incumbent player (like Samsung in the Android market). On the other hand, Nokia is pretty much the player of the Windows Phone 8 and I’m having hard time imagining what Lenovo could bring to the table to compete with the Lumia range. Then again, compared to Samsung, Nokia is much “easier to handle,” since it commands a rather modest market share (compared to its glory days).

In any case, we would love to see new companies in the Windows Phone 8 space, eventually providing the world with the third viable mobile eco-system. What do you think?

Yeah, it’s much easier to compete with Nokia than Samsung. That’s how today’s landscape looks like. 🙂

Lenovo K900 is excellent smartphone at excellent price. I chose it over Note 2 after owning Note 1. They should keep competing in Android space as well. Am not sure why Nokia is simply stuck at Windows. Good hardware makers have an excellent chance in Android space against the likes of Samsung. HTC One is cutting into S4 market simply because of better hardware. Am sure Nokia would have done way better if not for the windows love of their CEO.

Folks The Lenovo 5 inch 1080p screen quad core CPU Windows 8 supersized smart phones shows that Microsoft has given it’s OEM’s the data necessary to make Windows 8 smart phones now use all the High tech components that Apple smart phones and the
Android smart phones use. no longer can the anti Microsoft trolls say windows smart phones are behind the times technology wise. This is the GDR3 update in action. the GDR2 are being rolled out right now. the third update an major software update code
named Windows Phone 8 Blue will add VPN for the Enterprise, a notification center,
better Multitasking and other features to Windows 8 smart phones. Nokia is said to be adding an additional software update called “Amber” at this time. just about all Windows smart phones will get the Software updates for free.

Don’t be surprised if its a Windows 8.1 tablet with a phone app. I’m hoping someone puts this out. A smart phone you slide into a dock and supports duel montitors and a full breadth of windows applications. It was hinted at before. The only real leap is the landscape versus portrait metro UI.
