Looks like Lenovo is looking to go beyond Android by making a pact with Microsoft. The rumor is that the Chinese company may be looking to enter the Windows Phone 8 game by launching a powerful device that not only sports a 5-inh full HD screen, but also a quad-core processor.
The information comes from CNbeta, and we’re still not sure what to make of it. On one hand, it makes perfect sense for Lenovo to diversify its bets and try its chances with new platforms where there’s more room for competing against an incumbent player (like Samsung in the Android market). On the other hand, Nokia is pretty much the player of the Windows Phone 8 and I’m having hard time imagining what Lenovo could bring to the table to compete with the Lumia range. Then again, compared to Samsung, Nokia is much “easier to handle,” since it commands a rather modest market share (compared to its glory days).
In any case, we would love to see new companies in the Windows Phone 8 space, eventually providing the world with the third viable mobile eco-system. What do you think?
