Even though Microsoft had hard time moving a critical number of Surface tablets, that doesn’t stop them from pushing the whole business forward. It is said that the Redmond giant is working on a whole new series of Surface devices — including the Surface 2, Surface 2 Pro and Surface Mini — as we speak. To make things even harder to believe, the Surface 2 will run Windows RT, the platform that we thought will die alongside the original Surface tablet. But alas, MS doesn’t give up that easily and even though it lost a ton of cash on the first Surface, it may learn something from its successor.
The Surface Pro 2 is the model we care about more. We’re hearing that it will look exactly like the existing Surface Pro, boasting Intel’s new Hashwell Core i5 chip that will also help deliver improved battery life, going from 5 to 7 hours. Users will be able to choose between 4 and 8 GB models, and that kickstand we’ve learned to like will now support not one but two different positions.
Unfortunately we don’t have any dates at the moment though I’m guess new details will emerge shortly. Stay tuned in the meantime…
