What To Expect From Apple Tomorrow: iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iOS7

Ok Apple fans, tomorrow is the big day. Apple will be announcing their new product lineup from their headquarters in Cupertino, California. The company is expected to announce a few new iPhones, the budget iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S. A final version of iOS 7 will be unveiled, which has been going through the beta stages for some time now. Let’s take a detailed look at what to expect tomorrow.

iPhone 5C

The iPhone 5C first began circling around the water cooler as the budget iPhone, taking on the iPhone 5C name after some plastic pieces with iPhone 5C branding hit the interwebs. The iPhone 5C will come touting a plastic case and multiple colors, which is a departure from the norm for Apple. Multiple colors were a huge selling point for Apple with its first generation of iMacs in 1998, and again in 2004 with its iPod minis. We haven’t heard much about the iPhone 5C’s specs, but we’re expecting them to be similar to those of the iPhone 4S. The device could also come with LiquidMetal protection, adding scratch resistance to its plastic casing. The iPhone 5C will be focused on first time Apple owners, as well as emerging markets.

iPhone 5S

The iPhone 5S continues Apple’s penchant for releasing an updated version of its flagship phone, namely meaning a few hardware improvements and a new version of iOS. The screen size, design and build of the device will be almost (if not entirely) the same as the iPhone 5, with the exception of a fingerprint reader. The 5S is expected to have a fingerprint sensor built into the home button, which could enable another level of security for the device. The processor will receive a boost, with the iPhone 5S touting an A7 processor which outperforms the iPhone 5’s A6 by 31 percent. The device could come with NFC as well, and could come in a champagne color as well as the traditional black and white. The 5S will also include an improved camera, which is expected to be 12MP and a dual-LED flash.

iOS 7

First announced early last June, iOS 7 has been available for developers for a few months now. The new iOS touts some interesting software upgrades and a new flat look for icons and the OS overall. Apple added some much-needed features to the new build, such as true app multitasking, and a control center. iOS 7 will be running on both the iPhone 5C and the 5S.

Both the iPhone 5C and 5S are expected to be available for purchase on September 20th, as a leaked Apple store memo showed a black out date for employees on that day. We’ll see for sure what Apple has in store for us tomorrow, at their press event in Cupertino at 10AM PST.
