Two of the Bluetooth accessories stars, Jawbone and Jabra, have both recently launched small Bluetooth speakers made to sing along your tablets and smartphones.
Building on the success of its bigger brother, Jambox, the Mini Jambox, keeps the all-aluminum, water-resistant chassis while still hiding two drivers and a passive radiator underneath. Naturally, the bass of the larger unit isn’t there but you’ll still get a more than decent sound.
The device charges with an included microUSB cable, while also acting as a speakerphone when needed. There’s a line-in port for wired connectivity, as well as dedicated apps for Android and iOS that connect to popular music streaming services.
The Jawbone Mini Jambox measures 154x58x24.5 mm, and will be available in late September in nine colors.
The smaller unit, Solemate Mini, is a $99 stereo speaker with similar dimensions to the Mini Jambox with NFC capability. It will be released at some point in the fourth quarter in four colors, including red, yellow, blue and black. It’s also a water- and dust-resistant box that ships with an accompanying app to add Dolby Digital Plus for extra sounds depth. The Mini promises 8 hours of battery and an integrated cable.
The “regular” Solemate got new colors, NFC connectivity and better sound. This unit will retail for $159.95 and should offer a “more room-filling wireless experience.”
