Sony smartphone owners have been asking the Japanese company about their update plans and Sony reacted with a blog post, outlining the schedule.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 will start rolling out from next month. Also next month, few other devices will join this group, skipping Android 4.2 altogether – these devices include the Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V.

As for Android 4.4 KitKat, the first raft of Xperia products that will get this version of Android includes Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1.

Sony was quick to add that software rollouts are a phased process with timing and availability varying by market and carrier.

Finally, to get the latest information on firmware updates, Sony suggests following their Twitter account @SonyMobileNews. Or you can stay tuned to IntoMobile. It’s your call. 😉
