Samsung has made a Tizen-based prototype smartphone which is apparently being tested by Korean operators as we speak. According to Korean ZDNet (and brought to our attention by UnwiredView), this is likely a part of the plan to have the first Tizen smartphone on the market in the first half of 2014.
Unfortunately, we have no idea what this Tizen phone is all about and can only hope it’s as powerful as Sammy’s top Android phones. Then again, the Tizen platform was envisioned to work perfectly even on low-specced hardware and the chances are Samsung won’t shy away from taking advantage of that capability (to keep its huge margins).
Anyway, aside from smartphones, the Korean giant plans to use this platforms in many other devices. We’ve previously heard Tizen will end-up in cars, smart cameras, TVs and even refrigerators…
