Remember that Xiaomi phone we’ve told you about few days ago? Well, it turns out it won’t be called Hongmi 2 / Redmi 2; rather the Chinese firm will sell it under the name of Redmi Note. The official launch date is set at March 19th when interested users will be able to pre-order it through Tencent’s Qzone app, which got the exclusive for the phablet’s debut sale.
Those living outside of China can join the fun (pre-order) through third-party retailers like Xiaomi World, which is asking for a $5 commitment that will later be deducted from the phone’s price.
Specs wise, Xiaomi’s baby will pack a 5.5-inch 720p HD screen, octa-core processor clocked at either 1.4 or 1.7 GHz, and dual cameras. According to the Note’s listing at Xiaomi World’s website, users will be able to choose between two variants, one with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage; and the other with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Price is yet to be determined but we can’t imagine this being an expensive device — quite the contrary, it will offer the best bang for the buck.
