Xiaomi announced that the number of pre-orders for its Redmi Note phablet has reached 15 million. It’s unclear though whether all these users actually paid to get the big phone or they simply registered their interest with the option to “push the button” once the Note is back in stock. In any case, these are impressive figures for a major vendor, let alone Xiaomi which has yet to conquer the Western hemisphere.
Announced in mid-May, the Xiaomi Redmi Note comes with a 5.5-inch 720p HD screen, octa-core chip, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, big 3,200 mAh battery, and a memory expansion slot. It is available in two different variants, one with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, and the other one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. The phablet’s price starts at $130.
