From MySpace to mobile – Afterworld coming next year

AfterworldRoughly ten days ago, we posted about the WAP multiplayer mobile game Space Wars, and now we have something even more interesting. No, it’s not another WAP game, but it’s somehow related — both games rely on the Internet connection and both of them support multiple players.

Anyway, I’m talking about Afterworld the “photo-realistic, post-apocalyptic animated series” game which has been screened exclusively on MySpace. And now — you’re guessing correctly — one of the financiers of the series Sony Pictures International is preparing to launch the mobile game somewhere next year.

The interesting thing is that this is the first time the Web 2.0 game is going mobile. Yeah, we saw Flash-based games going the same route, but Afterworld original is basically powered by nothing more than a bunch of JavaScript and CSS files. We’ll see how this ends up…
